Nigeria's Tax Ombudsman to Begin Operations on January 1, 2026, Ensuring Fairness in Tax Disputes

Nigeria's Tax Ombudsman, under the leadership of CEO Dr. John Nwabuez and Chief Press Secretary Chudi Achif, will officially commence operations on January 1, 2026.

The Tax Ombudsman was recently appointed by President Bola Tinubu to enhance transparency and accountability within the tax system, providing a structured mechanism for fair and impartial resolution of tax-related disputes. Special Advisor Bayo Onanuga will support in informing and strategizing to strengthen confidence in tax administration.

The establishment of this office aims to protect taxpayers' rights and ensure efficient tax dispute resolution.
