Nigeria's Top Trading Partners in Q2 2026 Revealed

In Q2 2026, Nigeria's foreign trade landscape experienced significant changes, with China maintaining its status as the largest trading partner. The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) rose to third place among Nigeria's trading partners.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, total foreign trade with the top 10 partners reached N26.47 trillion, highlighting Nigeria's reliance on Asian manufacturing hubs, traditional Western markets, and regional African economies. Notably, trade with Canada ranked tenth at N849.25 billion, with exports of N773.42 billion and imports of N75.83 billion, reflecting a 9.5% increase from Q1 2026 but a 45.6% decline from Q2 2025.

Italy ranked ninth with trade valued at N1.19 trillion, while the United Kingdom returned to the top 10 with N1.20 trillion in trade, marking a 94.1% increase from Q1 2026. The changes in trade flows were primarily driven by crude oil exports and manufactured imports.
