NIMASA Renews Partnership with World Maritime University

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has renewed its partnership with the World Maritime University (WMU) in Malm, Sweden, by signing a four-year memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening Nigeria's maritime human capital. The signing ceremony featured Dr.

Dayo Mobereola, the Director General of NIMASA, who emphasized the partnership as a critical pillar in NIMASA's human capital development framework. According to a statement from Osagi Edward, the Deputy Director and Head of Public Relations at NIMASA, this collaboration will significantly enhance technical regulatory capabilities and improve maritime safety administration in Nigeria.

Under the MoU, NIMASA will sponsor at least ten officials annually for a 14-month Master of Science program at WMU from 2026 to 2029, as well as one official for a Master of Philosophy program jointly delivered with the International Maritime Law Institute (IMLI) in Malta. The MoU also includes provisions for distance learning and professional development courses, reinforcing Nigeria's participation in international maritime organizations.
