NiMet Predicts Thunderstorms and Rainfall Across Nigeria

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a three-day weather forecast predicting thunderstorms and moderate rainfall across various regions of Nigeria from Monday to Wednesday. The forecast, released on Sunday night, indicates that strong winds may precede thunderstorms in some areas.

NiMet anticipates cloudy conditions in the northern region on Monday morning, followed by thunderstorms and moderate rainfall later in the day. Intermittent moderate rainfall is expected in the southern region on the same day.

On Tuesday, morning thunderstorms and light rainfall are forecasted for parts of Borno, Gombe, Bauchi, Yobe, Taraba, and Adamawa. By Wednesday, thunderstorms and moderate rainfall are expected to spread across most of the northern region.

NiMet has advised airline operators to obtain airport-specific weather reports for effective operational planning. The agency has also warned that continuous rainfall could lead to flooding in coastal and low-lying communities, particularly in Lagos and other southern states.
