NiMet Forecasts Mixed Weather and Thunderstorms in Nigeria

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather forecast for Nigeria from September 14 to September 16, 2026, predicting a mix of rain and sunshine. On September 14, sunny skies are expected in the north, with isolated thunderstorms and light to moderate rains anticipated in the afternoon.

The north-central region will experience a cloudy atmosphere with occasional sunshine. Southern states, including Rivers, Bayelsa, and Akwa Ibom, will see cloudy conditions with thunderstorms and light rains.

On September 15, similar weather is expected, with thunderstorms forecasted for Taraba State and moderate rains across several southern states. By September 16, the northern and north-central regions will again see sunny skies, while thunderstorms with moderate rains are likely in Delta, Edo, Bayelsa, Cross River, and Rivers states.

NiMet has advised residents in areas prone to thunderstorms to secure loose objects, avoid driving in heavy rain, and stay away from tall trees. The agency also cautioned about high temperatures causing thermal discomfort.
