NiMet Predicts Dust Haze and Thunderstorms Across Nigeria

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather outlook predicting widespread dust haze and thunderstorms across Nigeria from February 23. The agency warns residents, particularly in the northern and north-central regions, to take necessary precautions due to suspended dust particles.

On Monday, February 23, a slight dust haze is expected to prevail in the northern region, with Borno and Yobe states anticipating moderate dust haze and horizontal visibility ranging from two to five kilometers. The forecast indicates that thick dust haze will dominate the northern and north-central regions throughout Wednesday.

In contrast, southern states like Cross River and Akwa Ibom may experience cloudy skies with intermittent sunshine and a slim chance of morning thunderstorms. NiMet advises individuals with asthma or respiratory issues to exercise caution during this period due to the suspended dust particles.
