NiMet Forecasts Dust Haze and Thunderstorms Across Nigeria

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather forecast predicting a three-day period of dust haze and cloudiness across Nigeria, starting Monday. The forecast indicates slight dust haze in the northern region throughout the period, with Borno and Yobe experiencing moderate dust haze and horizontal visibility ranging from 2km to 5km.

In the North Central region, slight dust haze is expected, while the southern region will see a cloudy atmosphere with intermittent sunshine and a slim chance of morning thunderstorms, particularly in Cross River and Akwa Ibom states. On Tuesday, moderate dust haze is anticipated in the northern region, and thunderstorms with light rain are expected in parts of Ondo, Ogun, Lagos, Edo, Bayelsa, Cross River, and River Delta.

By Wednesday, thick dust haze is forecasted across the northern and North Central regions, with continued cloudiness and chances of thunderstorms in the southern region. NiMet has urged the public to take precautions against dust particles, especially those with respiratory issues.
