NiMet Warns of Thunderstorms and Rainfall Across Nigeria

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) issued a weather warning for thunderstorms and rainfall expected across several parts of Nigeria between Monday and Wednesday. The warning, released on Sunday in Abuja, indicates that strong winds may precede storms in certain areas.

On Monday morning, thunderstorms with light rain are forecasted for parts of Taraba and Kebbi states, with scattered thunderstorms and moderate rain expected later in the day over parts of the North-East, Kaduna, Taraba, and Kebbi. In the North-Central region, thunderstorms with light rain are anticipated in Niger State in the morning, while most areas may experience thunderstorms and moderate rain in the afternoon or evening.

The southern states will see cloudy weather with isolated thunderstorms and light rain in parts of Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River. NiMet also provided forecasts for Tuesday and Wednesday, indicating continued thunderstorms and rain across various regions.

The agency urged residents to secure loose objects and advised motorists to avoid driving during heavy rainfall.
