NIS Arrests Kidnap Syndicate, Recovers ₦34 Million Ransom

On September 6, 2026, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Adamawa State Command, conducted an intelligence-driven operation that led to the arrest of two suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate, Alhaji Jaye, aged 55, and Buba Bello, aged 34. The operation resulted in the recovery of ₦34 million in cash, believed to have been earmarked for ransom payment for the release of Buba Bello’s brother, who was allegedly kidnapped.

The NIS did not disclose further details regarding the identity of the kidnapped individual or the circumstances surrounding the abduction. The recovery of the cash and the arrests are expected to assist investigators in uncovering the broader network involved in the kidnapping activities.

Following the arrests, the Comptroller-General of the NIS ordered that the suspects and the recovered funds be handed over to the Adamawa State Command of the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation.
