Security Forces Rescue Kidnap Victim in Imo State

On August 24, 2023, security operatives, including personnel from the Department of State Services (DSS), local vigilantes, and other security agencies, successfully rescued a 29-year-old kidnap victim named Ibeabuchi Adibenma in Orlu Local Government Area, Imo State. Adibenma was kidnapped on August 18, 2023, around 7 p.m. near Afor-Ogidi Market in Isiala Amaifeke community while returning from Umuna market.
The kidnappers, operating on two motorcycles, intercepted his vehicle and demanded a ransom of ₦15 million from his family. Following the abduction, security operatives launched a coordinated operation on August 20, leading them to Ihioma Community, where they rescued Adibenma.
The operation resulted in a gun battle, during which two suspected members of the kidnapping syndicate were neutralized, and two high-calibre weapons along with ammunition were recovered. After his rescue, Adibenma was placed in protective custody before being reunited with his family.
