NISO Addresses Ikorodu-Sagamu Transmission Line Issues

The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) convened a stakeholders' meeting focused on the Ikorodu-Sagamu 132kV double circuit transmission line corridor. Chief Executive Officer Bello Moham described the engagement as critical to addressing serious concerns related to offtake indiscipline, metering irregularities, and energy account gaps identified along the corridor.

The meeting, held in Lagos, brought together representatives from the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Distribution Companies (DISCO), Generation Companies (GENCO), and strategic industry participants. Moham emphasized that the identified anomalies pose risks that could impact the stability of the national grid and the reliability of the electricity market.

The meeting aimed to establish a common understanding among stakeholders regarding the scale of the implications of the identified anomalies and reaffirmed the application of regulatory technical obligations under the Electricity Act of 2023.
