NISO Engages Stakeholders to Address Grid Discipline Issues

The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) held a high-level meeting on Tuesday at its regional office in Ikeja West, Lagos, to engage stakeholders regarding the Ikorodu-Sagamu 132kV double circuit transmission line corridor. Engr.

Abdu Bello Moham, NISO's Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, described the engagement as a critical intervention to address serious concerns related to off-take indiscipline, meter irregularities, and energy account gaps identified along the corridor. The meeting aimed to establish a common understanding of the implications of the identified anomalies and reaffirmed the application of regulatory technical obligations under the Electricity Act 2023, grid code, and market rules.

Stakeholders were expected to agree on immediate corrective actions to restore operational discipline and ensure compliance with established rules. The meeting also emphasized the need for transparency and strict regulatory compliance to preserve the stability and integrity of Nigeria's national grid and electricity market.
