NISO and GOSERC Collaborate to Boost Gombe's Power Supply

On Monday, the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) hosted the management of the Gombe State Electricity Regulatory Commission (GOSERC) at its headquarters in Abuja. NISO’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Abdu Bello Mohammed, FNSE, congratulated GOSERC members on their appointments and praised Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for establishing the state’s electricity regulatory body.

Engr. Mohammed emphasized Gombe's potential as a commercial hub in the North East and expressed NISO's commitment to collaborate with GOSERC to improve electricity supply. He noted that Gombe currently receives 30MW, while its capacity could allow for up to 200MW.

Dr. Usman Abba Arabi, Chairman of GOSERC, stated that the meeting aimed to explore ways to enhance power supply, mentioning ongoing development of approximately 30 mini-grids. Engr. Mohammed advised GOSERC to view the utility company Sabana as a partner to boost revenue generation for the state's electricity market.
