NISO Calls for Enhanced Grid Stability Among NESI Stakeholders

Engr. Abdu Bello Mohammed, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO), called on stakeholders in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) to adopt operational discipline, seamless coordination, and robust long-term planning to ensure grid stability. This statement was made during his opening remarks at a two-day workshop titled “Strengthening Grid Stability: A Collaborative Workshop for NESI Stakeholders,” hosted by Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited at the Jebba Hydro Power Plant in Niger State.

Engr. Mohammed highlighted that the national power network faces challenges such as frequency excursions, voltage-security issues, and generation constraints. He stressed that maintaining a stable grid is essential for the security and reliability of NESI.

He urged participants, including representatives from the Federal Ministry of Power, NERC, TCN, GenCos, and DisCos, to focus on actionable solutions to improve grid reliability and performance. The workshop aims to establish coordination protocols and monitoring mechanisms to enhance grid operations.
