NISO Supports Gombe's Electricity Expansion Initiatives

During a visit from the management of GOSERC to NISO's headquarters in Utako, Abuja, Abdu Bello Mohammed, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NISO, affirmed the organization's commitment to support Gombe State's electricity expansion plans. He congratulated GOSERC members on their appointments and praised Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for establishing the electricity regulatory commission.

Mohammed highlighted Gombe's potential as a commercial hub in the North-East, noting the state's industrial activities necessitate improved electricity access. Currently, Gombe has the capacity to receive 200 megawatts but only receives about 30 megawatts from the national grid.

He assured GOSERC of NISO's readiness to assist in developing a viable business model for enhanced electricity access and emphasized collaboration with Sabana, the local electricity distribution company. GOSERC Chairman Dr Usman Abba Arabi indicated that the commission is mandated to improve electricity supply, with 30 mini-grids under development to expand access.
