NLC Meets ASUU and Other Unions Over Ongoing Strike in Nigerian Universities

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) convened a significant meeting with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and other education-related unions to address the ongoing nationwide strike affecting public universities. ASUU, led by President Chri Piwuna, commenced the strike following the expiration of a 14-day ultimatum issued to the federal government over unresolved issues such as staff welfare, infrastructure, salary arrears, and the 2009 ASUU-FGN agreement.

The NLC expressed solidarity with the striking lecturers and condemned the government's failure to honor agreements. The unions emphasized the "no pay, no work" principle until obligations are fulfilled.
