NLC Meets Today Over Expiring Strike Ultimatum

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) is set to meet today to discuss the expiring strike ultimatum issued last week. The ultimatum demanded the refund of allegedly diverted Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund contributions and the constitution of the board of the National Pension Commission to avoid a nationwide strike.

The Nigeria Employers Consultative Association has declared support for the NLC's demands. The NLC President, Joe Ajaero, and the NSITF Managing Director, Oluwaseun Faleye, confirmed the deductions based on a Ministry of Finance circular.

Efforts are ongoing to recover the balance of the funds. The NLC's National Administrative Council will review the situation today to determine whether to proceed with the strike.
