NMA Warns Against Illegal Delegates' Meeting in Nigeria

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) issued a statement on Tuesday, alerting security agencies to an unauthorized delegates' meeting being organized by a group of individuals who falsely claimed to be members of the association. Dr.

Mannir Batur, representing the NMA, stated that this attempt to convene an emergency delegates' meeting is outside the association's constitutional framework and has not been approved by the NMA. The association stressed that its constitution does not empower any individual or group to unilaterally summon meetings outside established procedures.

The NMA declared the planned gathering illegal and urged its members nationwide to disregard it. The association issued a stern warning against those behind this move, cautioning that any use of the NMA's name to incite disorder would not be tolerated, and those responsible would be held accountable.

The NMA reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining institutional integrity and urged members to avoid unauthorized activities that could undermine the association's unity and stability.
