Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri has taken decisive action by dissolving the management board and players of Bayelsa United after the club's relegation from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for the 2025/26 season. The governor's decision, which takes immediate effect, aims to hold the club accountable for its performance despite the significant financial backing from the state government.

This move is part of a broader strategy to restructure the club in preparation for its upcoming campaign in the lower division. A new management team is expected to be announced shortly.

Bayelsa United faced relegation alongside other teams, including El Kanemi Warriors, Wikki Tourists, and Remo Stars, last season.
