Diri Establishes Interim Board for Bayelsa United FC

Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has formed a five-member interim board to manage Bayelsa United FC for the next six months, following the club's relegation from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). This decision came after the dissolution of the club's previous board during a meeting of the State Executive Council at the Government House in Yenagoa.

The interim board, announced on Thursday by Deputy Governor Dr. Peter Akp, includes experienced football administrators: Dr. Peter Singabel (former Director of Sports), Sir Braveman Wodi (Director General of Prosper Cup), Godson Ekard, Ken Ekpolaemi Odogu, and Ono Akp, who will serve as the secretary. Dr. Akp emphasized the board's immediate task is to secure the club's return to the NPFL within six months, stressing that Bayelsa United should not remain in the second tier for long.

He appealed to football stakeholders across the state to support the interim board in ensuring the club's swift return to the top division.
