NNPC Completes OB3 River Niger Pipeline Crossing

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) announced the successful completion of the OB3 River Niger pipeline crossing, marking a major milestone in the expansion of Nigeria's gas transmission network. The project, executed approximately two kilometers beneath the River Niger, was completed by NNPC's wholly-owned subsidiary, NGIC, and involved advanced horizontal direct drilling technology.

Andi Odeh, NNPC's Chief Corporate Communications Officer, stated that this achievement unlocks the full capacity of the OB3 pipeline, which is designed to transport two billion standard cubic feet of gas daily. Group Chief Executive Officer Ojulari highlighted the project's strategic importance in meeting the federal government's production targets of three million barrels of crude oil per day and 12 billion standard cubic feet of gas per day by 2030.

The OB3 pipeline will serve as a backbone infrastructure link between Nigeria's eastern and western gas networks and is expected to enhance energy availability and supply reliability, driving national economic development.
