NNPC and NUPRC Secure $20 Billion in Gas Deals

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) have been praised for their significant achievements in the oil and gas sector, including securing over $20 billion in gas sale and purchase agreements. Bayo Ojulari, NNPC Group Chief Executive Officer, and Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, NUPRC Commission Chief Executive, were recognized for their efforts in restoring confidence and attracting investments.

The Citizens Forum for Energy Accountability and Development (CFEAD), through its Executive Director Patriot Unazi Gideon, stated that the agreements, which include 1.29 billion standard cubic feet per day of LNG feed gas and 750 million standard cubic feet per day of domestic gas supply, signal Nigeria's openness for business. NNPC also reported a $3.4 billion reduction in operating costs and a six percent increase in crude oil production, reaching approximately 1.71 million barrels per day, the highest in five years.

These developments are seen as crucial for Nigeria's economic stability and revenue generation.
