NNPC Reports 6% Rise in Oil Production to 1.67mbpd

NNPC Limited announced a 6% rise in crude oil production, reaching 1.67 million barrels per day (mbpd) as of April 2026, up from 1.60 mbpd in April 2025. This increase, amounting to approximately 80,000 barrels per day, was documented in its Monthly Performance Report.

Gas production also rose from 7,354 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) in April 2025 to 7,729 mmscfd by April 2026, indicating a 5% increase. NNPC responded to comments from the Oil and Gas Professionals Forum (OGPF) questioning the performance of its leadership under Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr.

Bayo Ojulari, regarding the recent oil licensing round conducted by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC). NNPC clarified that the conduct of oil licensing rounds is under the statutory mandate of NUPRC and emphasized its role as a commercial entity without regulatory authority.

NNPC's spokesman, Andy Odeh, stated the company welcomes scrutiny but insists on factual accuracy in public commentary.
