Aminu Ringim Defects to ADC, Strengthening Opposition

Aminu Ibrahim Ringim, a prominent leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Jigawa State, officially defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Saturday during an ADC membership registration event in his local government area. Addressing a large crowd, Ringim described his move as part of efforts to strengthen the opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He emphasized the need for a united front to address challenges such as insecurity, inflation, hunger, and unemployment faced by Nigerians. Ringim urged residents to register with the ADC to create a stronger opposition platform capable of unseating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming elections.

He dismissed claims of a coalition collapse within the ADC, asserting that the party would remain united and support whoever emerges as the candidate in the primaries. Ringim also noted that 15 million Nigerians have registered with the ADC, with a target of an additional 30 million nationwide before the elections.
