Aminu Ringim Defects to ADC Ahead of 2027 Elections

Aminu Ringim, who was the governorship candidate for the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Jigawa State during the 2023 elections, has officially defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). This announcement was made on Saturday during a membership registration event held in his hometown of Ringim, where he was met with significant support from a large crowd.

Ringim's defection comes amid a growing trend of political realignment among influential figures from various parties in anticipation of the 2027 general elections. He emphasized the need for a united opposition to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming elections.

Ringim, who previously contested under the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015 and 2019, described the ADC as a credible alternative capable of addressing the aspirations of ordinary Nigerians. He called for mass registration in all 27 local government areas of Jigawa State to build a stronger platform for the ADC.
