Osun Government Denies ₦11bn Looting Allegations by EFCC

The Osun State Government has refuted allegations from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) claiming that ₦11 billion was looted from its accounts. In a statement released on Thursday by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, the government described the EFCC's claims as a "failed attempt to cover up illegal action through unfounded allegations." The government accused former Governor Gboyega Oyetola of directing the EFCC to freeze the state account to obstruct the payment of palliatives to workers.

Despite the account freeze, the government confirmed that it had already disbursed the promised palliatives to all state workers. The statement further criticized the EFCC for conducting a politically motivated investigation since March 2026 without any evidence of wrongdoing.

The government emphasized its commitment to public service and infrastructure development, asserting that there are no funds to loot as resources are allocated to various projects for the benefit of the populace.
