Keyamo Confirms FAAN's Commitment to Cashless Policy

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation, announced that there will be no reversal of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria's (FAAN) cashless policy, which is set to be implemented across major airports in Nigeria, including Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) in Abuja. During a spot assessment of the hybrid system, Keyamo stated that the government has decided to fully adopt this cashless approach to enhance revenue collection and ease traffic at airports.

He explained that the hybrid system allows for a minimal use of cash until the country fully transitions to a cashless system. Keyamo emphasized that the federal government has issued a clear deadline for this transition, and failure to comply could result in consequences for those responsible.

He reiterated that no federal agency is permitted to collect cash, underscoring the urgency of implementing the cashless system effectively.
