ADC Cleared for 2027 Elections After Court Ruling

The media office of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar stated that there are no pending legal battles preventing the African Democratic Congress (ADC) from participating in the 2027 general elections. This announcement follows a Court of Appeal decision that overturned a judgment which ordered the deregistration of the ADC and four other parties.

The Atiku Media Office described the appellate court's ruling as a significant victory for democracy, asserting that it cleared the way for the ADC's participation. The statement highlighted that the judgment, along with an earlier ruling by Justice Liman of the Federal High Court affirming the election of the Senator David Mark-led National Executive Committee of the ADC, confirmed the party's legal status.

The Atiku camp praised the Court of Appeal justices for their commitment to constitutional democracy, emphasizing that the previous judgment by Justice Peter Lifu was nullified due to procedural violations. The appellate court also noted that the respondents lacked legal standing in the case.
