INEC Recognizes Atiku Abubakar, 470 ADC Candidates for 2027

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially recognized Atiku Abubakar and 470 candidates from the David Mark-led faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the upcoming 2027 general elections. This recognition comes after a Supreme Court judgment that affirmed the legitimacy of Mark's leadership over a rival faction.

Moham Haruna, an INEC official, confirmed that the Mark-led faction has been granted access to the nomination portal to submit their candidates. The ADC has submitted a total of 471 candidates, including 2 for presidential, 109 for senatorial, and 360 for House of Representatives positions.

However, the rival faction, led by Nafiu Gomb, has been accused of attempting to mislead the public by falsely claiming access to the nomination portal. INEC has stated that it will not recognize submissions from the rival faction, which has lost its appeal.

The ADC has called for investigations and prosecution of those involved in promoting falsehoods regarding the nomination process.
