Malami Thanks Supporters After Release from Custody

Abubakar Malami, the former Attorney General of the Federation, publicly expressed gratitude to his family and political allies after his release from custody, where he faced 16 counts of alleged economic and financial crimes alongside his wife and son. Malami, who pleaded not guilty to the charges, was remanded at Kuje Correctional Centre and was released following a court order.

He described the ordeal as a difficult period but acknowledged the support from several prominent political figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Kaduna Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, former Minister of Transport Rotimi Amaechi, and Labour Party's 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi. Malami emphasized the importance of national unity and urged Nigerians to remain resolute in defending democratic values, especially during critical moments for the nation.

He also highlighted the need for citizen participation in the pursuit of justice and accountability from the state.
