Fubara Denies Rift with Rivers Assembly Over Budget

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has refuted claims of a rift with the Rivers State House of Assembly concerning the 2026 Appropriation Bill, which he submitted on July 10, amounting to N1.85 trillion. Despite the budget proposal being presented over a month ago, it has not yet been passed into law.

Speaker Martin Amaewhule had previously indicated concerns over the late presentation but assured that the Assembly would give the proposal the necessary attention. In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, Fubara emphasized that he is collaborating closely with the lawmakers to benefit the people of Rivers State.

The statement clarified that the budget is progressing through the standard legislative process, and Fubara expressed optimism that it would eventually be approved. He urged those spreading negative narratives to cease, highlighting the need for peace and harmony for the state's development.
