Rivers State Governor Fubara Unveils N1.854trn Budget

On Friday, Governor Siminalayi Fubara presented a proposed budget of N1.854 trillion for Rivers State for the year 2026 to the Rivers State House of Assembly. This budget, amounting to N1,854,248,734,475.76, signifies a 24.49% increase from the adjusted 2025 budget.

The budget is designed to sustain economic growth and expand critical infrastructure, with the highest allocations directed towards infrastructure (N533.32 billion), education (N315 billion), and healthcare (N105.43 billion). The proposed budget includes provisions for agriculture, power, youth development, sports, women's affairs, and the judiciary.

Governor Fubara emphasized the importance of completing ongoing road projects, improving educational and healthcare services, and creating job opportunities. He also made provisions for the payment of outstanding gratuities and pensions.

The Governor appealed to lawmakers for the expedited consideration of the appropriations bill, expressing optimism for its early passage to facilitate effective implementation. Speaker Martin Amaewhule assured the Governor that the Assembly would give the bill prompt legislative attention.
