Botswana and Morocco Gain K-ETA Access to South Korea

South Korea has announced that only citizens from Botswana and Morocco are eligible for the Korea Electronic Travel Authorization (K-ETA), which permits entry without a traditional visa for up to 90 days. This announcement significantly limits access for African travelers, as the majority of African nations are excluded from the K-ETA scheme.

Citizens of Botswana and Morocco can apply for the K-ETA online, bypassing the full visa application process. In contrast, nationals from countries such as Ghana, Kenya, Egypt, and South Africa must continue to use the traditional visa application route through South Korean embassies or consulates.

The K-ETA system is designed to streamline entry for nationals from countries with which South Korea has established visa-free or simplified entry arrangements. The inclusion of Botswana and Morocco indicates their favorable diplomatic relations with South Korea, positioning them among a select group of African nations with this level of access.
