Taraba Governor Kefas Denies Money Allegations in APC Move

Agbu Kefas, the Governor of Taraba State, has publicly addressed claims regarding his defection from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating, “Nobody gave me money.” He clarified that his decision was not influenced by financial incentives but was a carefully considered move aimed at improving the state’s welfare and fostering cooperation with the federal government. Governor Kefas made these remarks during a private meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the presidential villa in Abuja, where they discussed security, agriculture, and welfare issues affecting residents of Taraba State.

He expressed confidence in delivering on projects that align with President Tinubu’s vision for the 2027 presidential election. Kefas also called for peace and unity among residents, noting the overlap of the Christian Lenten season and the Muslim Ramadan period as a time for collective prayer and commitment to national development.

He officially left the PDP for the APC in late 2025 or early 2026, a move that has shifted the political balance in the state.
