Agbu Kefas Denies Financial Inducement for APC Defection

Agbu Kefas, the Governor of Taraba State, addressed claims regarding financial inducement to defect from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). During a closed-door meeting with state house correspondents at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday, Kefas described the allegations as unfounded, asserting that no one offered him money to leave the PDP.

He clarified that his decision to join the APC was based on strategic considerations aimed at developing Taraba State. Kefas also dismissed reports of a strained relationship with former Defence Minister Theophilus Danjuma, stating that Danjuma is a father figure and that there was a misunderstanding.

The governor discussed key issues such as security, agriculture, and welfare for Taraba residents with President Bola Tinubu, highlighting efforts to enhance agricultural mechanization and job creation. Kefas formally defected to the APC in late 2025 or early 2026, a move that received mixed reactions from political stakeholders in the state.
