Nollywood Stars Honor Alex Ekubo at Arochukwu Burial

Nollywood stars and dignitaries attended the burial ceremony of actor Alex Ekubo in Arochukwu, Abia State, on May 11, 2026. Ekubo, who was 40 years old, succumbed to advanced metastatic kidney cancer.

The burial took place in his hometown, which is also his birthplace, and was marked by a large turnout of family, friends, and prominent figures from the entertainment industry. Emotional tributes were shared, including a heartfelt message from Alexx's sister, who described him as her best friend and expressed her struggle to cope with his death.

The funeral service was held at Mari Slessor School in Amanagwu village, Arochukwu, and included a tribute song. Ekubo rose to fame as the first runner-up in the 2010 Mr. Nigeria competition and built a successful acting career featuring in several popular films.
