Nollywood Stars Honor Alexx Ekubo at Service of Songs

A heartfelt Service of Songs was held in Lekki to honor the late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo, who passed away on May 11, 2026, at the age of 40 due to advanced metastatic kidney cancer. The event brought together prominent figures from the entertainment community, including Nanci Isi, Stan Nze, IK Ogbonna, Ini Edo, and Yemi Alade, who shared emotional tributes and fond memories of Ekubo's warmth and generosity.

IK Ogbonna delivered a deeply moving tribute, while Nanci Isi noted Ekubo's uplifting nature. Pastor Ituah Ighodalo offered prayers for Ekubo's widow, Anwuli, providing comfort during the difficult ceremony.

The Service of Songs marks the beginning of Ekubo's funeral rites, with a wake scheduled for June 17 at his family residence in Arochukwu, Abia State, followed by a final funeral service on June 18. The family has requested a strict white dress code for the ceremonies, reflecting Ekubo's vibrant spirit and cultural significance in the Igbo community.
