Bomb Blasts in Maiduguri Leave 23 Dead, Security Restored

Normalcy has been restored in Maiduguri, Borno State, after multiple bomb blasts rocked the city on Monday, resulting in a death toll of no fewer than 23 people and over 100 others sustaining various degrees of injury. The attacks occurred at three major locations, including the entrance to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital and the post office area.

Kenneth Daso, the spokesperson for the Borno State Police Command, disclosed this information during a morning briefing on Wednesday. President Bola Tinubu has directed security chiefs to oversee the situation in Maiduguri, while state governors across the country condemned the incident, describing it as a senseless loss of life.

Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the chairman of the Nigeria Governor Forum, expressed sympathy for the people of Borno State and emphasized the need for collaboration with the federal government to tackle insecurity. Inspector General of Police Tunji Disu visited victims receiving treatment at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, and police chiefs conducted a spot assessment of the affected areas, assuring residents of efforts to dismantle the terrorist network behind the attacks.
