Senate Denies Viral Threat Claim Against Northerners

The Nigerian Senate, under President Godswill Akpabio, has officially denied allegations stemming from a viral video that purportedly showed Akpabio threatening Northern support for Bola Tinubu's 2027 presidential election campaign. The Senate described the claims as false and malicious, capable of causing unnecessary tension in the country.

In a statement issued in Abuja, Akpabio called for security agencies to investigate the video's origin and the motivations behind its circulation. The viral clip featured Garu Gololo, who allegedly claimed that Akpabio declared Northern votes for Tinubu would be forced to leave Nigeria.

The Senate emphasized that such statements are completely false and misleading. Additionally, the Northern Democrat Front has urged the Inspector General of Police to investigate Gololo for spreading defamatory remarks against the Senate President.

They condemned the video as capable of inciting public disorder and called for accountability for those spreading false information.
