Northern CAN Urges Tinubu to Address Plateau Violence

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), representing the Northern States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Plateau State Government to urgently address the ongoing killings and destruction of property in Plateau State. Rev. Dr Yakubu Pam, the chairman of Northern CAN, expressed deep concern over the loss of lives and property in affected communities in a statement issued on Tuesday.

He described the violence as senseless and stressed that the protection of citizens should be a government priority. Northern CAN highlighted the necessity for a comprehensive review of Nigeria's security system to better safeguard vulnerable communities.

The association extended condolences to families who have lost loved ones and those affected by the violence, urging the Federal Government to prioritize peace restoration in troubled areas. Additionally, it called on Plateau State residents to remain united and pursue peace, justice, and community protection while urging relevant authorities to act swiftly to prevent further loss of life.
