Reps Caucus Urges Tinubu to Halt Northern Nigeria Killings

The Minority Caucus of the House of Representatives has called on President Bola Tinubu to take urgent measures to address the increasing violence, including terrorism and banditry, in Northern Nigeria. In a statement issued on Thursday, signed by leader Fredrick Agbedi and spokesman Afam Ogene, the caucus highlighted the intolerable scale of attacks on communities, which have led to significant loss of life and displacement.

They reported over 20 fatalities in recent incidents, including 23 in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State and at least 40 in Sokoto State's Ungushi community, where the Chief Imam was also killed. The caucus emphasized the need for an intelligence-led military operation to reclaim territories from terrorists and criminal gangs, urging Tinubu to replicate successful strategies used in Oyo State for rescuing abducted schoolchildren.

They stressed that security operations should focus on dominating areas affected by violence while ensuring the safety of innocent citizens.
