Northern Christian Leaders Revive 'NCA' Name in Kaduna

Northern Christian leaders across 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have officially adopted the name "Northern Christian Association" (NCA), reviving the title from its original establishment in 1964. This decision was made during a two-day stakeholders' meeting in Kaduna, chaired by Rev.

Joseph Hayab, marking the first anniversary of his leadership. The change aims to clarify their mandate and reinforce the voice of Christians in the region, distinguishing their identity from the national body, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

Hayab emphasized that this move does not signify a breakaway from the national body but rather a return to their historical roots. The NCA, which evolved into CAN in 1976, seeks to address challenges such as religious freedom and access to education for Christians in northern Nigeria.

The meeting also highlighted the need for advocacy to protect vulnerable communities and ensure equal treatment for all citizens.
