CAN Warns Against Unauthorized Groups in Nigeria

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) released a statement on Wednesday, cautioning the public against unauthorized groups that claim to represent it. The association, headquartered in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), reaffirmed its organizational structure as per Article 8 of its 2021 constitution amendment, which includes zonal, state, local government, district, ward, and unit branches.

CAN emphasized that it does not recognize any operational structures known as "northern" or "southern" and warned that individuals or groups adopting such labels are acting contrary to its constitution, particularly Article 8, Section 3, which forbids unauthorized use of its name or acronym. The statement was jointly signed by top leadership, including President Dr.

Daniel C. Okoh and General Secretary Professor Samson Fatokun.

CAN urged the public to respect its officially established branches and to avoid engaging with unauthorized groups, warning that continued use of similar names could attract legal action.
