Northern Christians Support Bishops, Urge Unity in Faith

The Northern Christian Association (NCA) has expressed its support for the Catholic Bishops following their recent meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The NCA urged Daniel Bwala, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Policy Communications, to avoid comments that could create divisions within the Christian community.

In a statement signed by Chairman Rev. Joseph John Hayab, the NCA emphasized that the bishops' meeting with President Tinubu addressed national interests affecting Christians and Nigerians broadly, and should not be interpreted through a denominational lens.

Hayab stated that the NCA comprises members from various Christian traditions, including the Catholic Church, Baptist, ECWA, Methodist, Anglican, and Pentecostal denominations, reflecting a broader unity of the Christian faith. He asserted that the bishops represented concerns shared by many Nigerians and deserved respect for their counsel on national issues.

The NCA called for public officials to focus on substantive national issues rather than engage in divisive rhetoric.
