Northern Christian Association Backs Catholic Bishops' Meeting

The Northern Christian Association (NCA) has expressed its support for the Catholic Bishops of Nigeria after their recent meeting with President Bola Tinubu, where they discussed pressing socio-economic and security issues in Nigeria. The NCA rebuked Daniel Bwala, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications, for comments perceived as divisive within the Christian community.

Rev. Joseph Hayab, Chairman of the NCA, stated that the bishops addressed concerns affecting all Nigerians, not just Catholics, and called for respect towards Cardinal John Onaiyekan and the bishops.

Hayab condemned Bwala's remarks as shameful and a disservice to the President, asserting that the bishops provided honest counsel aimed at improving the nation. He criticized government officials who dismiss legitimate concerns from religious leaders, warning that failure to address Nigeria's challenges could have dire consequences for all citizens, regardless of their political affiliations.
