NNCYA Urges Clerics to Promote Peace After Tinubu Meeting

The Northern Nigeria Christian Youth Association (NNCYA) has called on Christian leaders nationwide to exercise restraint in their public comments following private meetings with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. In a statement signed by National Secretary Bason Sunday and National Publicity Secretary Pastor Ruth Wada, the NNCYA emphasized the importance of prioritizing national unity, peace, and constructive dialogue.

The association noted that recent reactions to the meeting between the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) and President Tinubu had created unnecessary public tension. They highlighted that access to the President should be viewed as a sacred trust for intercession and counsel rather than a platform for media commentary.

The NNCYA cautioned against portraying the President as indifferent to security and economic challenges, asserting that he receives intelligence and briefings not available to the public. They referenced Proverbs 18:13 to encourage careful consideration before making public statements about national issues.
