Shehu Critiques Leadership Amid Northern Nigeria Crisis

Mahdi Shehu made remarks on Saturday regarding the dire situation in Northern Nigeria, where he painted a grim picture of the population's inability to respond to challenges due to insecurity and hardship. He noted that people in the region live in fear and confusion, becoming traumatized and unable to confront reality.

Shehu criticized the leadership in the region, describing them as lacking credible direction and accountability. He blamed compromised elites and weak traditional institutions for failing to protect the populace and provide guidance.

Furthermore, he pointed out that citizens have become passive, allowing the situation to worsen, and characterized the leadership as spineless, visionless, and planless. Shehu's comments reflect a deep concern for the state of Northern Nigeria, where even Imams and priests are reportedly unavailable for burial, indicating a severe crisis in the region.
