Imams Urge Enhanced Security Measures for Nigerians

The League of Imams in Yorubaland has called on security agencies to intensify their efforts in protecting the lives and properties of Nigerians, irrespective of sex, tribe, or religion. This appeal comes in response to a recent wave of kidnappings in Oyo State, particularly affecting students and teachers in the Oriire local government area.

The statement was signed by prominent figures including Sheikh Jamiu Kewuler, Vice President of the League, and other chief imams from various states. They condemned the criminal acts against innocent children and emphasized the sanctity of human life in Islam.

The League urged security agencies to ensure that perpetrators of heinous crimes are brought to justice without delay. They also called on parents, teachers, religious leaders, and community stakeholders to remain vigilant and support efforts aimed at protecting schools and public institutions.

Additionally, the League congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the third anniversary of his office and called for collective prayers for peace and security in the region.
