Northern Youths Praise Tinubu's Mastercard Partnership

Northern youths, represented by the Northern Youth Frontier (NYF), have praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's economic diplomacy with Mastercard, which aims to strengthen Nigeria's digital economy. During a recent meeting at the State House in Abuja, Mastercard's CEO Michael Miebach announced a commitment to inject $2 billion into Nigeria's economy annually, targeting the reduction of financial fraud by $200 million.

The partnership focuses on developing Nigeria's micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and includes plans for establishing cyber centers and enhancing cybersecurity through artificial intelligence. The NYF emphasized the importance of ensuring Northern Nigeria is fully integrated into this initiative, advocating for the training of five million small business owners in digital skills and cybersecurity over three years.

The coalition urged the federal government to prioritize the Northern region in this transformative program, which aims to create new business opportunities and improve financial technology access compared to the Southern region.
