Yari Appeals for Support of Tinubu's Presidency Tenure

Senator Abdul’Aziz Abubakar Yari, the Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, called on northerners to permit President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to complete his eight-year tenure, advocating for respect towards the rotational presidency principle in Nigeria. Speaking at the Kano Government House after a meeting with Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Yari emphasized that the North should honor the political arrangement that transitioned the presidency to the South in 2023.

He noted that prior to Tinubu, the presidency had been held by a northerner for several years, specifically mentioning that from Nigeria's independence, northerners led for 47 years. Yari acknowledged the imperfections of Tinubu's administration but argued that the challenges facing Nigeria are not solely attributable to it.

He also pointed out that insecurity is a global issue, not unique to Nigeria, and urged northerners to respect the existing zoning arrangement for national stability.
